Job Summary:
The Firmwide Finance Business Architecture team (FFBA) is accountable for leading large-scale data, infrastructure, accounting standard and business process change management events and the Chief Data Office for Finance and TCIO. The team also provides a centralized program management and business analysis capability, targeted program governance, and consistent application of program management standards including system testing and change management practices, with a current focus on overseeing the Data Acquisition framework for strategic and legacy Finance, TCIO, and Wholesale Credit Risk platforms.
A key objective of the Business Architect Team is to manage the delivery of large-scale infrastructure programs and business process change management events to ensure accurate, complete, and consistent data is readily available for both internal financial reporting and external regulatory reporting purposes, consumed by both LOB stakeholders and corporate groups.
One of the top priorities across Global Finance, Credit Risk and Liquidity is to evolve the organization to a more integrated data and reporting strategy – one that is globally consistent and usable for business, finance, risk, and regulatory requirements.
As a Data Owner Director, you will lead the strategic vision and execution of data initiatives that drive business operations, strategic objectives, and advanced analytics. Your role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data is effectively integrated and utilized, while maintaining high standards of data quality and governance. By overseeing critical data projects and fostering strong stakeholder relationships, you will play a pivotal role in transforming data into a strategic asset that fuels innovation and growth across the organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide strategic thought leadership on developing and delivering data solutions that support business operations, strategic objectives, and advanced analytics.
- Collaborate with product owners, business process owners, and analytics leads to identify, define, and prioritize critical data needs, ensuring effective governance, integration and utilization across the business.
- Support the aligned Data & Analytics lead for their product by identifying data required to be integrated into analytics platforms to support projects such as analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
- Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with stakeholders to enhance data understanding and quality across business areas and functions.
- Direct the creation and implementation of processes to identify, monitor, and mitigate data risks, including protection, retention, storage, use, and quality.
- Prioritize resources to deliver strategic objectives and resolve identified data issues in a timely and consistent manner that maintains data consumer trust
- Oversee data strategy initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals, and collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize and execute critical projects.
- Manage and mentor staff, both direct and matrixed; effectively drive teams toward a robust set of execution milestones and mitigate risks, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies
- Lead data governance and risk management efforts, providing subject matter expertise and driving collaboration across functions.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities And Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in data management, data governance, risk management / analytics, or a related field, with a proven leadership track record.
- Ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams, with strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
- Deep understanding of data management principles, governance frameworks, and lifecycle management, including data protection, data quality and data classification.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, translating complex data concepts into actionable business strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, effectively conveying complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders with poise and confidence.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and manage large-scale data projects.
- Proven leader and influencer with the ability to think on their feet
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities And Skills
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and technologies, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with advanced analytics, machine learning, or artificial intelligence applications in a business context.
- Understanding of Hadoop or Public Cloud related technologies & their applications
- Proficiency in data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, to effectively communicate data insights to stakeholders.
- Advanced degree preferred
