Position Summary
The Ares Real Estate Exchange Specialist will provide 1031 exchange product support to the internal and external product distribution teams for all channels (wire houses, private banks, RIAs, regionals, independent broker-dealers and family offices). The position will represent Ares in distributing our unique, private placement offerings which provide investors with the ability to sell investment real estate and defer capital gain taxes under IRC Section 1031 and creates the opportunity for passive diversification through an investment in one of our multi-billion real estate funds through a 721 exchange/UPREIT transaction.
Essential Job Duties
- Gain deep knowledge and become a subject matter expert on 1031 real estate exchanges along with Ares’ diversified and industrial real estate funds and real estate exchange program
- Clearly and effectively communicate with financial advisors, investors, tax, and legal advisors about the Ares Real Estate Exchange program
- Work closely with the Ares Wealth Management Solutions distribution team to generate, manage and convert 1031 exchange leads to closed transactions
- Proactively make outbound calls, arrange for meetings, conference calls, etc. to help generate sales
- Travel with the distribution team, sales management and portfolio management
- Attend conferences and industry events
- Public speaking – conference calls, virtual meetings, in field meetings and industry events with advisors, clients, and their tax/legal professionals
- Monitor and actively engage with the parties involved on transactions from inception to the closing stage
- Coordinate with the closing team and other 1031 exchange team members
- Generate sales and marketing ideas to help better position the 1031 exchange program
- Become a knowledgeable source of information and insights about commercial real estate, REITs and 1031 exchange and related industries
- Adhere to all compliance guidelines, including use of pre-approved marketing materials, prospectus requirements and proper licensing
- Fulfills in a timely manner required administrative/team responsibilities including the utilization of Salesforce.com for call reporting, deal tracking, and reports.
- At all times, conduct daily activities in the highest professional manner
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Position requires a bachelor’s degree and a FINRA Series 7 license.
- Experience with financial services required; experience with 1031 exchanges and/or real estate a plus.
- Knowledge of alternative investments and the wholesale distribution of financial products is extremely helpful.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to be articulate and polished in explaining complex real estate, tax, and financial matters to all audiences – including sophisticated HNW investors and financial, tax and legal advisors.
- Must be able to work well in a team setting and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with an ability to travel as necessary.

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$175,000 - $200,000
