Job Overview
Lord Abbett is seeking a talented and experienced finance professional to join our team as a Treasury Capital Markets Associate. The team is responsible for the execution of all credit facilities, debt issuance and other financing transactions that the firm undertakes at both the corporate and fund level. The Associate will play a key role in this capacity by assisting the Treasury Capital Markets Lead and the firm’s Treasurer in analyzing, executing, and managing financing transactions and capital markets activities, particularly for our growing Alternatives platform. This role will collaborate with key stakeholders across the firm including the CFO and the broader Finance team, Investments, Client Services, Risk and Legal.
We’ll Trust You To
- Support the execution of all financing facilities across the firm, with a particular focus on the growing private credit and alternative investments franchise
- Assist with the execution of any amendments, renewals and upsizing requests for all credit facilities, including the annual renewal of the firm’s ’40 Act redemption lines
- Develop a deep understanding of the financing vehicles in place at the firm and fund level and provide subject matter expertise to different stakeholders across the firm
- Manage and coordinate responses to due diligence questions from prospective lenders
- Create peer benchmarking analyses of BDC capital structures across different stages of their maturity lifecycle
- Assist with pro-forma analyses of borrowing base and understand various levers of liquidity for the BDC
- Review Investment Committee memos of deals being funded and identify deal characteristics that make it suitable or unattractive for certain leverage facilities
- Analyze all term sheets received from lenders, document strengths and merits of each facility and liaise with banks and external counsel to understand on-market terms and maintain internal trackers
- Identify potential wallet opportunities for lenders and support the firm’s overall banking relationship strategy through detailed tracking of bank discussions for senior stakeholders
- Work with the controllers to build systematic debt compliance monitoring
- Run ad-hoc analyses of financial model projections where necessary and assist with the BDC’s long term objective of obtaining investment grade ratings to support subsequent bond issuance
- Guide the development of management reporting as well as dashboards necessary for internal monitoring of leverage across different funds and particularly the BDC
- Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across Investment teams, Client Services, Finance, Legal and IT
You'll Need To Have
- A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in investment banking or a buyside institution with a focus on debt capital markets activity
- Direct experience in capital markets activities and arranging financing transactions
- Ability to read through credit agreements and legal documents to understand and analyze terms, covenants and other obligations both as a borrower and a lender
- Prior experience working on the capital markets desk of a prestigious BDC is a plus
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is mandatory and familiarity with Bloomberg is a plus
- Must have sound knowledge of a broad spectrum of capital structures and debt financing products as well as a desire to keep current on capital markets as they potentially relate to opportunities for Lord Abbett
- Requires a solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting
- Self-motivated individual with proven ability to work efficiently, effectively, and proactively both as part of a team and independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- Excellent project management skills to lead complex initiatives independently
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Math, Economics, or similar areas of study

Compensation Information: Annual base salary for this role is $150,000-$170,000 . Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
