Position Summary:
Octagon is seeking an Investor Relations professional to become a key contributor on a high-performing team. The Associate / Senior Associate will report to a senior member of the Investor Relations team. The Associate / Senior Associate will work independently, and in conjunction with fellow Investor Relations team members and key stakeholders to support the firm’s investor reporting, client service, marketing, and communications efforts. We are looking for an individual who is intellectually curious and collaborative, with outstanding organizational and communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce fund/account reporting packages and other regular investor deliverables, including quarterly letters, monthly performance updates, and other data requests
- Coordinate, draft, and update responses for due diligence questionnaires, RFPs, and other ad hoc investor requests
- Ensure accuracy, transparency, prompt delivery, and appropriate recordkeeping of various communications
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of the firm's investment strategies and products and apply/communicate such knowledge to client reports and updates in a clear and concise manner
- Support the production of monthly presentations and other marketing materials
- Collaborate with colleagues across teams to obtain, analyze, and synthesize data for use in investor reports, marketing collateral, and other client communications
- Maintain various internal schedules/databases (e.g., firm and client data, qualitative and quantitative investment metrics, market research) and ensure accuracy and data integrity on an ongoing basis
- Support the development of technology-based solutions designed to improve internal recordkeeping, monitoring, and reporting capabilities
- Conduct market research and data analysis for senior management, as needed
- Proactively take on ad hoc projects and provide support for new business initiatives, as needed
- Potential to assume greater and broader responsibilities as the firm grows and enters new lines of business
Areas of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Qualifications:
- 4+ years of related work experience at an investment adviser, advisory consultant, or applicable industry firm, preferably in the leveraged finance/credit markets
- Ideal candidate will possess a keen understanding of the mechanics and dynamics of the corporate debt markets
- Exceptional written and communication skills, able to clearly articulate opinions, product knowledge, and market insights both in writing and when communicating with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent technical and quantitative skills; strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Exemplary attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortability interacting and building relationships across functions (including senior management) within the firm and affiliated organizations, and directly with clients
- Ability to multitask and respond to changing priorities in a time-sensitive environment
- Highly motivated, proactive team player with a positive attitude
