Position Overview
Apollo is one of the world’s largest alternative credit investors with approximately $616 billion in Credit AUM. Direct Lending is one of the fastest growing segments of our Credit business and a strategic priority for Apollo, representing more than $60 billion of AUM today. In this role, the candidate will work alongside Direct Lending leadership to develop and execute on strategic initiatives for the firm’s non-investment grade corporate private credit activities. Supporting the Chief Operating Officer of Direct Lending, this role will be an integral member of the Direct Lending team with a focus on solving commercial challenges and driving growth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for organic business building, general management and strategy within the asset management space.
The Role
In this role, the candidate will be heavily involved in developing and managing a broad range of business priorities on behalf of the Direct Lending business. The candidate’s responsibilities will include assisting Direct Lending leadership in all aspects of business management and acting a liaison between the investment team and other areas of the firm. The candidate will be a member of a lean team with broad ranging responsibilities related to strategy and execution and will have the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the alternative asset management business through exposure to senior members of the Credit business.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist Direct Lending leadership in the day-to-day management of the businesses and progress toward firm-wide goals and growth targets. Help develop solutions to challenging problems facing the business. Act as transformational agent across a variety of functions to drive change across the business.
- Support senior members of the team in the evaluation and implementation of new business activities for Apollo, including new funds/product development, business line extensions, platforms and partnerships.
- Assist in ensuring that Apollo’s growth initiatives are supported by a robust go-to-market strategy across all facets of idea commercialization.
- Perform strategic analyses for senior management critical to the evaluation and management of Apollo’s business with a strong emphasis on growth: competitive intelligence, investing in new asset classes, extension of existing investing or origination capabilities, coverage models and organization structure.
- Coordinate across Apollo on projects, acting as a liaison between investment teams and other functions (client and product marketing, finance, human capital, legal, tax and compliance).
- Partner with Credit Leadership to define and drive forward key culture and people initiatives.
- Partner with other Investment COOs and/or broader firm leadership to drive strategic initiatives.
- Facilitate ad hoc requests and special projects for senior management.
- Manage business reviews to ensure connectivity and alignment between senior management and business leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate institution with a record of academic achievement.
- 2-4 years of relevant work experience, with a preference for relevant financial services or asset management experience; corporate strategy or consulting experience in other industries will also be considered.
- Genuine interest in corporate strategy and business building within the investment management industry with an emphasis on hands-on implementation of growth plans.
- Consummate team player with a strong desire to help optimize and grow Apollo’s expanding Credit business.
- Strong modeling and problem-solving skills with detail orientation and an exceptional analytical skillset.
- Desire to take initiative and ownership – must demonstrate a proactive, positive attitude toward given tasks.
- Self-starter with a willingness to execute projects on a small, nimble team.
- Excels in a rigorous and face-paced work environment.

Pay Range
$125,000 - $175,000 (DOE)

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
