Position
Northleaf is currently recruiting for a Manager, Portfolio Valuations with significant experience in preparing and reviewing valuations for private market investments, as part of the independent valuations oversight function at Northleaf. This posting is for a new role.
The Manager will report to the Director, Portfolio Valuations, and be a key contributor, playing a vital role in supporting the Private Credit, Private Equity, and Infrastructure valuation processes.
Specific Responsibilities Will Include
- Work collaboratively with investment professionals across all asset classes to support the valuation process and onboard new deals in alignment with reporting timelines
- Provide guidance throughout the valuation cycle and deliver insightful valuation analysis to proactively identify material valuation movements
- Review financial models to ensure internal consistency and appropriate reflection of material global events and market sentiments
- Prepare valuation highlights for Valuation Committee and Investment Committee reporting
- Manage engagement and relationship with external valuation agents
- Act as the primary liaison between the audit team and deal teams, supporting the audit process by coordinating requests, facilitating discussions, and providing relevant supporting documentation and sources of assumptions in a timely manner.
- Develop and present concise summaries of Northleaf’s valuation policies and processes, and engage directly with investors/asset consultants to support investor operational due diligence and RFP responses
- Partner cross functionally with Deal Teams, Investor Operations & Finance, Portfolio Strategy & Analytics, and Investor Relations to support ongoing deliverables and strategic initiatives.
- Drive enhancements and improvements to the investment valuation and reporting processes and procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant valuation work experience in professional valuation services firms, asset managers, pension funds, and/or investment banks
- Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics or other related discipline
- Master’s degree in quantitative finance or other related discipline will be considered an asset
- Professional designations such as CBV, CFA, and/or CPA will be considered an asset
- Solid understanding of private markets and relevant valuation considerations across a range of private market assets and strategies
- Excellent research, financial modelling, analytical and valuation skills
- High proficiency in Excel and relevant programming tools such as macros, Python and VBA
- Productive, hands-on contributor and team player, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to deliver in a high-performance culture operating under time-sensitive deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high degree of professionalism and ability to present ideas in a clear and concise manner to both internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to foster effective working relationships across the organization and to build credibility with senior investment professionals and Valuation Committee members
Compensation
The expected compensation range (base salary and incentive compensation) for this role is $130,000 - $170,000 per year.
