OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a product manager to join its Human Capital Products team and build technology for employee experience processes, ranging from performance and learning systems to those that support our core Human Capital teams (e.g., Employee Relations, Global Mobility, and HC Business Partners). This individual will assist with the development of the firm’s evolving systems infrastructure—a combination of in-house and third-party platforms—including opportunities to build new products and modules from the ground up. The role offers the opportunity to work in an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging working environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
You’ll partner with internal users and our international team of software developers through projects and regular release cycles, designing and building new software, implementing feature enhancements, and integrating third-party systems that support our multi-year systems roadmap. You’ll be responsible for scoping open-ended projects, partnering with stakeholders on their needs, and establishing structures and processes that drive projects to successful completion. You’ll conduct discovery to understand user needs in order to create cross-teams workflows and provide a seamless user experience. You’ll conceptualize solutions and technical requirements—including integrating analytics and business intelligence into interfaces—and oversee development, testing, and rollout. In addition, you’ll own relationships with internal stakeholders and share responsibility for sprint planning, backlog grooming, and user support/troubleshooting. This dynamic position offers an opportunity to flex your creative skills while driving the development of innovative, data-oriented products.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher and four to eight years of relevant experience.
- Product management experience and an interest in working on internal-facing software are essential; experience with human capital systems or operations is a plus.
- The ability to take initiative, dive into details, and manage projects to completion is critical for this role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an aptitude for translating the needs of non-technical systems users into technical requirements, and the judgment to exercise extreme discretion with confidential information are also essential.
- Individuals with a knack for solving open-ended problems and seeing how small details interrelate to impact the bigger picture (i.e., systems thinking) will excel in this role.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $150,000 to $200,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
