The Retirement Systems Division is hiring Disability Benefits Analysts in the Disability Processing section. Applicants with employee benefits administration, case management, disability, retirement, and payroll experienceare highly desired and encouraged to apply. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.
Job DutiesForms Review- Review disability applications for accuracy and completeness
- Gather and analyze information from forms and medical documents (emphasis on accurate dates, dollar amounts, and other mathematical data)
- Follow established electronic workflows and processes to manage the claims process
Eligibility Determination- Learn and apply knowledge of the Retirement System's disability programs and interpret disability laws to ensure members qualify for disability prior to a medical determination.
- Communicate with employers to address discrepancies related to payroll, certified disability dates, and leave exhaustion
- Ensure proper benefits coordination when the applicant is receiving other benefits (e.g., Workers’ Compensation, Veteran’s benefits, Social Security)
Benefit Calculation & Processing- Daily use of Microsoft Excel to verify disability calculations are accurate and to calculate monthly benefits, offsets, overpayments, and employee refunds
- Identify and report overpayments, and work closely with internal staff to find appropriate resolutions.
