Government Executive – GPS Public Health
Our Business Development function brings together business, sector, and account knowledge along with EY competencies and solutions to meet unique client needs. The Business Development Organization shapes and drives an integrated growth strategy across EY’s largest accounts, industry sectors, solutions, and services, while demonstrating and achieving market leadership through a client centric culture.
The opportunity
Government Executives (GEs) are highly qualified, ex Government Senior Officials who work in conjunction with the Government and Public Sector (GPS) Market Segment Leader (MSL) and GPS Account Leaders to deliver on growth goals outlined in the Market Segment (MS) Execution plans.
As a Government Executive, you'll serve as key member of the sector and account teams regarding the best way to execute EY’s overall go-to-market strategy in GPS. This role will focus on Public Health agencies and programs and will be active in the market serving as a key member of the Markets and Public Health Solution team. Candidates will be expected to have significant insights and experience and be prepared to engage key officials in the following programs: Behavioral Health, Disease Management and Surveillance, Mental Health, Grants Administration, and Opioid Abatement. GEs will carry a significant sales and revenue target contribution to the account and market segment.
Your Key Responsibilities
The GEs will identify opportunities that have the potential for differential impact for GPS – whether through sector-wide transformation, ecosystem development (e.g. teaming partners), alliance solutions, digital and managed service development etc. and then engage with clients in the testing and deployment of those transformative solutions. This role will execute in the field with the most significant clients and support the most important pursuits. This role acts as a proxy for the account Global Client Service Partners GCPSs of the Accounts by developing his/her own brand and voice in the market (or a specific sub-sector) as an influencer.
Account Leadership:
- Ability to develop and cultivate relationships with key accounts/associations/agencies and key government leaders
- Involved in our most critical deals to help support the pursuit process with our teams and make a difference in the deal close rate
- Shape our service offerings for GPS
- Provide subject matter experience to delivery teams
- Strong planning, relationship building, cross-functional team and leadership skills required
- Ability to provide outstanding advocacy, communications and negotiations skills
Pursuits & Solution Deployment:
- Works with the Services team to identify and deploy solutions that will have a differential impact on clients within the segment, including through best use of our Alliance relationships, our digital offerings, managed services, ecosystems and other relevant offerings.
- Drive Pursuits process excellence for all strategic opportunities in the Market Segment.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the monitoring/analyzing of market pipeline to ensure an appropriate cross-Service Line mix of opportunities.
- Deliver exceptional client service by driving robust use of the Account Management Framework and other EY sales methodologies for G360 and focused core accounts within the market segment.
- Serve as a conduit to other specialty BD resources as appropriate on key accounts and pursuits.
- Participate in revenue planning process for market segment.
- Strategic identification of opportunities to improve margin levels, including challenging account teams on pricing/negotiations strategy to ensure fees are established at appropriate margin levels.
Skills And Attributes For Success
You'll need to thrive in a matrixed organization, balancing the needs of the client against business initiatives and goals. Possess the ability to make strategic decisions, such as prioritize relationships to develop, negotiate with clients (external and internal) and overcome obstacles with minimal supervision. Your ability to develop and build networks will be instrumental in connecting with colleagues across the leadership team and service lines to drive a coordinated market effort. Operate with a high level of autonomy and independence. This role coaches and will be expected to inspire others through action in the marketplace.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- A proven track record of success in significant leadership positions and responsibility for large projects inside the Government
- 10+ years of experience in progressing senior, government leadership positions
- Strong ability to bring new ideas and innovation to deliverables with a heavy focus on transformative digital, managed service and/or Alliance based solutions. Solid and current up to date understanding of the external marketplace/industry, and competitive landscape
- Expert client management and relationships skills and possess a strong Executive presence.
- University/bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
- Ability to hold a Secret Clearance (TS preferred)
Ideally, you'll also have
- An advanced degree or MBA
- Prior large scale project management experience is a plus, preferably within a government or with a professional services company
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills
- Team selling experience
- Ability to travel

What We Offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $257,100 to $462,900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $321,400 to $578,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
