Job Summary:
Provide oversight in all aspects of investment operations – trade support & settlements, multi-currency reconciliations, portfolio accounting, corporate actions, proxy voting, custodian oversight – for various institutional separate accounts, mutual funds, and ETFs. Hands-on role requiring strong knowledge of equity, fixed income, FX, and derivative markets, utilizing best practices and experience to constantly evolve and improve operational processes. Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Manage and perform all institutional separate account operations activities including cash, position and market value reconciliations (daily/monthly)
- Ensure accuracy of daily cash entries into accounting system (FX, dividend, expenses, income, cash flows)
- Perform global proxy voting and corporate action processing for all investment strategies – includes the monitoring, analysis and communication of events and the review of instructions to ensure participation in all eligible events.
- Research and prepare daily prices compiled from various external pricing sources, and perform pricing analysis
- Perform the day-to-day responsibilities of the Trade Settlements team and research and resolve all settlement related problems. Ensure all trades are accurately matched and processed accordingly.
- Perform due diligence and evaluation of service providers to ensure service levels meet expectations
- Oversee and execute daily end of day process to manage the data integrity of cash, positions and trades in accounting and trading systems from current day to next business day
- Monitor and conduct appropriate operational controls, identify failures and implement procedures to rectify any detected operational weaknesses
- Coordinate the SOC 1 (SSAE 18) Type II audit of operational controls for the firm
- Frequent communication with internal departments (portfolio managers, trading desk, relationship management, technology, members of senior management) and external groups (custodians, clients, service providers)
- Assist with the opening, modification, and termination of accounts
- Maintain daily and monthly oversight checklists
- Provide technical support for systems and applications utilized by operations team
- Manage special request/reports/projects as requested
- Support the broader objectives of Investment Administration as needed
Minimum Requirements:
- University degree preferably in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 6 years' experience at a buyside asset manager, including a broad understanding of global operations encompassing institutional separate accounts
- Experience independently managing critical processes within an enterprise-wide control environment
- Solid understanding of FX transactions and global operational relationships
- Strong writing, analytical and management skills, with sound problem solving capabilities
- Solid understanding of equities, fixed income, derivative products and other various securities
- Experience in working with internal and external auditors
- Multi-currency accounting experience
- Advanced Excel and related computer skills and applied experience with a common portfolio accounting system and automated reconciliation systems
- Knowledge of Omgeo CTM, SWIFT, FXall and CRD are a plus
