SUMMARY
The Area Manager, IT Planning & Business Management is responsible for overseeing all business-oriented IT functions, including financial management, resource planning, vendor management, department administration, and project/program portfolio governance.The area manager will liaise closely with the Head of IT and other IT managers, business partners, control functions, and external parties to ensure transparent and efficient planning and control across all IT operations.
MANAGEMENT/ SUPERVISION
The Area Manager, IT Planning & Business Management reports to the Head of Information Technology and may directly manage a team of employees and/or consultants; the Area Manager must be able to lead, influence and manage in a matrix environment. The Area Manager will be expected to interact effectively with internal and external partners at all levels of management and may occasionally act as a “back-up” to other senior technology management.
JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Directs the activities of employees and consultants to achieve objectives of the department.
2.Leads IT department planning and administration, and ensures ongoing operational control related to finance, budgets, resource management, project approvals, and other related functions.
3.Leads the business aspects of vendor management, including evaluation of outside parties, negotiation of contracts, relationship management, and performance tracking.
4.Partners with other areas of the bank to develop and implement new processes and ensure continuous improvement of existing processes.
5.Liaises with internal and external stakeholders, including Risk Management, Audit, and regulators to ensure related reviews, examinations and resulting action plans are effectively organized and managed.
6.Provides routine transparency, analysis and reporting related to the composition and activities of IT, including for Senior Management and the Board of Directors.

REQUIREMENTS
1.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2.Ten or more years of IT business, financial, vendor management experience.
3.Five or more years of experience in managing people.
4.Knowledge of financial services business; securities lending and custody is a plus.
